STEPHANIE JANE MATTHEWS
Sculptor and Fine Artist
Stephanie Jane Matthews is a Sculptor and Fine Artist. She was born in Coppull, Lancashire and her passion for art began at the age of 7 having been hugely inspired by a birthday card. She studied Fine Art at the University of Central Lancashire graduating in 2011 with a BA(Hons)Degree and went on to study Ceramics gaining a master’s degree in 2021.
‘Having gained experience in drawing and painted from a child I wanted to use the fine art course to learn about clay and sculpture, particularly portraiture sculpture. After graduating I continued working as an artist for several years then I decided to further my studies in portraiture sculpture through the master’s degree course in ceramics.’
Corporate commissions include a wall mural at Preston North End, a 5-foot sculpture of a gorilla for Gorilla Glue’s Head Office, a bronze sculpture of ‘Quackers’ (a famous pet duck) for Adventure 21 to be placed on the side of Coniston Water, and most recently commissioned by Hibernian Football Club to create 5 bronze busts of ‘The Famous Five from 1965’.
Stephanie works in clay, bronze and resins for sculptures working large scale or small scale, corporate and private. Fine Art commissions range from pencils, coloured pencils or paints working large scale or small scale for corporate and private commissions.
